The MPC One is like you say, a lot of functions and value by itself. get the similar functionality of TR-8S with all the knobs and sliders. With an external midi controller connected to the MPC One, could I perhaps control the volume of each piece of the drum kit along with pitch, attack etc? i.e. which to me seems pretty impressive versus just pressing buttons, because it requires a little ability with timing.ĭo you think I could load the MPC One with 808 samples and have it be impressive companion to the TD-3? Could I lay down the tracks in real time? say start with hats or bass line for the timing, then start building up the drum patterns one by one real time, starting with the bass drum for example, then maybe toms.

Wouldn't the MPC one be good for live performances though? As I lay down each drum instrument onto separate mutable track, I can do so in real time tapping the pads. I notice people have said the Digitakt is better for live performances, and live performances is what I am mostly interested in to be honest. Seems like a lot of functionality for $500 used! (I plan getting a crave or neutron after the drum machine, so the cv/gate ability is nice and the fact it can act as a sequencer, storing the midi sequence within the same project as the drums and other samples and recordings.) I like that it can act as a hardware midi sequencer as well as cv/gate (etc) sequencer for eurorack gear. The MPC One has caught my attention because it can function as a drum machine, trigger samples & loops, entire songs even. I've been considering the RD-8 but it's so dang BIG, and well it is limited to just the 808 sounds (but incredible analog sound!) The Behringer RD-8 sounds absolutely fabulous - Techno is my focus right now, but also like other electronic music as well.

I have a Behringer TD-3 coming in the mail and well I need a drum machine for it.
